Governor's Record on Job Creation
From the Indiana Democratic Party
More and more, Hoosiers are demanding answers from Governor Mitch Daniels about job losses across the state of Indiana.
The news media has been asking these same questions to the Governor. First with the Channel 13 Eyewitness News investigation on the thousands of jobs claimed by Mitch and the state that simply don't exist. And in a recent editorial from the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette which simply asks the Governor, where are the jobs?
It is becoming more evident that Governor Mitch Daniels has failed Hoosiers when it comes to creating jobs.Under the watch of Mitch Daniels the state's unemployment rate has skyrocketed to unprecedented levels (almost doubling in recent years), with more than 300,000 Hoosiers out of work. Yet the Governor has proposed no plan of action to help the Hoosier families that are struggling to make ends meet. For more information click on "read more" below.
The following graphs from the Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) clearly demonstrate what a disaster Mitch Daniels has been for Hoosiers on jobs. Especially when you recall that Governor Daniels headed up George Bush's economic agenda that drove Indiana into a ditch starting in 2001.
So, don't believe his rhetoric about the Bayh-O'Bannon-Kernan years on jobs and the economy. As the graphs point out, Indiana had record low unemployment under Democratic Governors and it has only gone up and up and up since Mitch came on the scene.Graphs below from the BLS depict unemployment levels and rates for the state of Indiana from 1989 - 2009.

Clearly, Mitch Daniel's record on jobs has been a complete failure. It's time the Governor finally answers the questions that the media and Hoosiers have been asking - where are the jobs? Hoosiers deserve an answer. Mitch, we're waiting.
