Vote Centers Threatened

The continued use of vote centers in Tippecanoe County and elsewhere is threatened tonight by the uncertain fate of HB 1106. Democrats added a "no fault" absentee ballot provision to the bill which would allow anyone to vote using an absentee ballot. Currently voters wanting to vote by mail must meet one of 13 criteria. If the session ends tomorrow, as has been speculated, and the bill has not been voted on, the vote centers will disappear by the 2011 municipal elections.
