Rep. Buyer's Foundation Attracts Questions
The Journal and Courier reports that a USA Today study of politicians for whom unregulated corporate honorary gifts were made in 2008 showed that Rep. Steve Buyer was 13th with $192,225, including two gifts totalling $35,000 to the Frontier Foundation. This Buyer-related foundation was formed in 2003 to provide scholarships to Indiana students and emergency relief for those who suffer catastrophic losses. By the end of 2008 it had collected $830,148 but had given away only $10,500. You can read the Journal and Courier's report here.
